As for the beautiful new guitar by Mervyn Davis, I have found the guitar I didn’t know I was looking for, to take to those 120 cities a year. Great to play, it is making what I know better, and allowing new things to happen I could not do with other guitars. It sounds great plugged in – no feedback problems – and comes across like a fine Martin or other thru the PA.
String slides come through better than ever, it is light, easy adjustable volume knob discreetly hidden from view, and perfectly in tune and playable up to the 20th fret – and when a capo is put on even at the 10th fret it is in tune! Fingerpicking, open tunings, flat picking, bare finger blues, rhythm chops, – it all works great on the SmoothTalker.
Audiences love the way it looks, as do I, and already people come up close to shoot a photo (one I think they would shoot without me, because it is a beautiful instrument!).
It is strange..after playing for 50 years, I have new found energy and interest to get my hands on that guitar as soon as I can. Stop the bus! Leave me alone.. I am playing my SmoothTalker and finding new notes… and liking the old ones more! Go to George and ask about it… you won’t regret it.
